Our team of researchers have been investigating a number of questions around how our behaviours on social networking sites (SNS) may relate to our feelings of self (social anxiety, mood), as well as if our personality may explain some of the variability we see in this relationships. For instance, we know that for some individuals SNS use is linked to experiencing more negative feelings of self, but for others their SNS use is not related to more negative feelings of self.
Examples of projects we have conducted include:
- Impact of how we use Facebook on adolescents’ mood (DrĀ Debbie Jagger)
- Understanding the role of personality and impression management within Instagram on feelings of social anxiety in adolescents (Dr Harriet Norcott)
